Colorado Springs City Council Approves Downtown Surveillance Cameras
The Colorado Springs City Council this week approved a proposal to purchase ten security cameras which the police
department will install in the downtown area to capture footage of crimes as well as to deter incidents. According
to Police Chief, Pete Carey, the cameras will mostly be placed on Tejon Street, and should be in place by the summer. Carey
also said that those charged with monitoring the footage will be properly educated about what to look for. The vote to
approve the purchase of the cameras was 6-2 in favor, with one councilwoman absent.
